Job summary

Historic Environment Scotland (HES) invites applications for a Labourer/Driver role based at Blackness Depot. This permanent, pensionable post supports conservation work across Blackness and surrounding sites. The role includes transporting staff and materials, assisting stonemasons, and maintaining equipment.

Starting salary is £27,740 with summer/winter hours and in-person interviews. Benefit package includes a Civil Service pension, generous leave, and flexible working where appropriate.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of traditional building crafts and conservation practices.
• Experience with health & safety practices including COSHH and risk assessment.
• Experience of working on construction sites and general labouring.

Responsibilities

• Provide semi-skilled assistance to stonemasons for conservation duties.
• Transport staff, plant, equipment and materials to sites in Blackness area.
• Carry out routine maintenance and ensure presentation standards.
• Maintain small plant and equipment.
• Assist with surveys and works inspections.
• Maintain health and safety of self and others; keep site clean.
