As a MongoDB Database Administrator, you will work in project teams designing, building, and maintaining MongoDB databases and infrastructure to deliver strong business solutions. You will be involved from design and build to supporting both non-production and production environments. We foster a learning culture at NBS, encouraging ongoing development and skill enhancement in relevant technologies. You will also have opportunities to collaborate with our communities of professional engineers.

Nationwide promotes hybrid working where possible, combining in-office collaboration with remote work. You will spend at least two days per week, or 40% of your time if part-time, based at our London, Swindon, Northampton, or Bournemouth offices. Attendance requirement: If based outside Swindon or London, you will need to attend these offices once a month for workshops and meetings.

What you’ll be doing

Collaborating within delivery teams to design and implement solutions using your technical leadership and SME expertise. Providing guidance to less experienced engineers and ensuring solutions meet team objectives. You may also work on-call occasionally.

About you

You have a proven track record in designing, building, and implementing MongoDB solutions, with in-depth knowledge of:

• Linux operating system concepts
• MongoDB OpsManager for backups and deployments
• MongoDB architecture, replication, and sharding
• JSON data structures, exporting/importing documents
• Troubleshooting and performance tuning within MongoDB
• Working across multiple projects and sharing expertise
• Building relationships with technical and business stakeholders
• Quickly learning new technologies

Additionally, experience in at least three of the following areas is preferred:

• Infrastructure as Code (e.g., Ansible)
• LDAP integration
• Red Hat OpenShift
• Kafka
• Network and infrastructure security
• Agile methodologies and Scrum
• Regulatory environments (PCI, GDPR)
• Working with third parties/suppliers
