Job summary

GE Vernova in Rugby seeks a senior Operations Leader to own day-to-day manufacturing, drive readiness of product and lines, and coordinate across engineering, supply chain, manufacturing and project teams.

You will translate programme requirements into executable production plans, lead a high-performance team, emphasise safety, quality and delivery, and guide continuous improvement and industrialisation for new and evolving products.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Engineering or equivalent with experience leading manufacturing teams.
  • Proven track record delivering safe, on-time production in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience translating engineering/project requirements into executable production plans.
  • Strong capability in KPI management, data-led decision-making and problem-solving.

Job Description Summary

This is a newly established role within the Modules Operations team, part of the Rotating Machines Rugby (RMR) team, introduced to support business growth and increasing order demand. The team designs and produces advanced electronic equipment connected to rotating machines and auxiliary power generation systems. This role will be central to driving product and manufacturing readiness across the production operation. Working at the centre of engineering, supply chain, manufacturing, and customer programme-facing teams, you will ensure technical maturity, material readiness, line readiness, and delivery performance are aligned to meet business and customer commitments. We are looking for someone with proven shop floor leadership experience, ideally gained within an engineering or manufacturing environment. Experience in sectors such as power generation, heavy engineering, aerospace, defence, rail, marine, or industrial equipment would be highly desirable, but is not essential You must be a sole national British citizen and have a valid UK passport, and holds, or is eligible to obtain, UK security clearance to SC level to be considered for this role.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead day-to-day manufacturing operations, maintaining clear shop floor ownership, team accountability, and focus on safe, on-time delivery.
  • Develop a high-performance team culture through clear priorities, coaching, and consistent operational discipline across safety, quality, delivery and cost.
  • Translate project and programme requirements into clear, executable production plans that support safe, efficient, and on-time delivery.
  • Drive product and manufacturing readiness by aligning technical maturity, material availability, operational capability, and line readiness ahead of manufacture.
  • Lead daily operational reviews, using KPI performance and shop floor data to monitor build progress, manage risks, and prioritise escalations.
  • Support the setup, stabilisation, and continuous improvement of production lines and build processes for new and evolving products, with a strong focus on NPI, industrialisation, and execution stability.
  • Act as the key operational interface between Engineering, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, and Project/Programme teams ensuring alignment on product readiness, manufacturing readiness and delivery execution.
  • Drive cross-functional action to resolve issues affecting build, schedule, material flow, quality, or delivery.
  • Lead structured escalation and problem resolution for bottlenecks, operational risks, and readiness gaps using data-led decision-making.
  • Apply sound operational and technical judgement to support decisions across projects, product lines, and customer priorities.
  • Use sound operational and commercial judgement to balance priorities, resolve trade-offs and support effective delivery decisions.
  • Operate with autonomy within the role, influencing operational planning and continuous improvement activities to strengthen ways of working, team effectiveness, delivery performance, and execution discipline.

Essential Candidate Requirements
  • A degree in Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Proven experience leading within a manufacturing or production environment, with direct shop floor responsibility and accountability for team performance and delivery.
  • Demonstrated experience translating engineering, project, or programme requirements into executable production plans, with responsibility for product and manufacturing readiness.
  • Strong experience supporting the transition from product development into manufacture, including NPI, industrialisation, line readiness, and production line setup or stabilisation.
  • Proven ability to work effectively across Engineering, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, and Project / Programme teams, driving alignment and execution in a matrix environment.
  • Strong capability in root cause analysis, structured problem-solving, KPI management, and data-led decision-making to resolve operational issues and improve performance.
  • Experience influencing operational priorities, driving execution, and improving delivery performance within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
