Job summary

RAC is recruiting a Mobile Vehicle Technician in the West Midlands to deliver structured mobile repair services for members. You’ll work on planned jobs with a fixed schedule, using a RAC van, tools, and diagnostic equipment to service, diagnose, and repair vehicles at customers’ driveways or workplaces.

The role emphasizes independence, problem solving, and high‑quality service, with overtime options and a path to enhanced earnings. Full UK driving licence required.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 2 in Light Vehicle Maintenance (or equivalent) with 2+ years’ experience.
• OR 5+ years’ experience as a Vehicle Technician/Mechanic.
• Full UK driving licence with fewer than 6 points.

Responsibilities

• Routine servicing and maintenance in a mobile setting.
• Diagnostics using advanced mobile equipment and on‑site repairs.
• In‑depth repairs you’d normally complete in a workshop.
• Provide member advice and recommendations based on inspection.
• Vehicle safety checks aligned to RAC standards.

Our Service, Maintenance & Repair (SMR) division is a newer, fast-growingpart of the RAC, built to deliver planned, structured repair and servicingdirectly to members - from their driveway to their workplace car park.

There are no emergency callouts, no unpredictable shift patterns and noroadside recoveries.Instead, you’ll work through a scheduled list ofjobs, with the time, tools and support you need to do quality work.

From day one, you’ll have everything you need: a fully equipped RAC van, fuelcard, uniform, full tool set and advanced diagnostics. You’ll use yourtechnical skill and problem‑solving ability to get people moving again; safely,quickly and confidently.

What you’ll need

Either:

NVQ Level 2 qualification in Light Vehicle Maintenance (or equivalent) with 2+ years’ experience

or

5+ years’ experience as a Vehicle Technician/Mechanic

and

A full UK driving licence with fewer than 6 points
