Job summary

RAC is expanding its Service, Maintenance & Repair division by placing mobile technicians to service members on driveways and car parks across the West Midlands. You’ll work from a pre-booked schedule with no emergency callouts, performing planned servicing, diagnostics and in-depth repairs with the full support of a dedicated RAC van and tools.

The role offers a base salary around £40,178 with OTE up to £52,000, 40 hours per week, and options for guaranteed overtime and premium-rate overtime

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 2 in Light Vehicle Maintenance (or equivalent) with 2+ years’ experience
• Full UK driving licence

The RAC is known for roadside rescue - but this isn’t that.

Our Service, Maintenance & Repair (SMR) division is a newer, fast-growingpart of the RAC, built to deliver planned, structured repair and servicingdirectly to members - from their driveway to their workplace car park.

There are no emergency callouts, no unpredictable shift patterns and noroadside recoveries.Instead, you’ll work through a scheduled list ofjobs, with the time, tools and support you need to do quality work.

What to expect

Your day starts with a clear digital schedule. Each job is pre‑booked, with themember expecting you.You’ll carry out:

• - Routine servicing
• - Diagnostics using advanced mobile equipment
• - In‑depth repairs you’d normally complete in a workshop
• - Member advice and recommendations based on your inspection
• - Vehicle safety checks aligned to RAC standards

And because SMR is structured, you’re not reacting to breakdowns - you’redelivering planned work that you can prepare for.

From day one, you’ll have everything you need: a fully equipped RAC van, fuelcard, uniform, full tool set and advanced diagnostics. You’ll use yourtechnical skill and problem‑solving ability to get people moving again; safely,quickly and confidently.

What you’ll need

Either:

• NVQ Level 2 qualification in Light Vehicle Maintenance (or equivalent) with 2+ years’ experience
• 5+ years’ experience as a Vehicle Technician/Mechanic

and

A full UK driving licence with fewer than 6 points
