Job summary

Plantexpand is seeking a skilled light vehicle technician to service, inspect and repair vans and light commercial vehicles on customer sites around Cardiff. You will work from a fully stocked van, recording every job to keep fleet compliance and safety.

You must hold a Level 2/3 light vehicle qualification or equivalent, have a full UK driving licence and be confident working solo on site. The role offers a structured schedule and paid on-call earnings.

Responsibilities

Up to £45,000 + overtime + discretionary monthly bonus + paid door to door + company van and fuel card

Your van. Your patch. Paid from your front door.

Keep a utility van fleet around Cardiff safe, legal and on the road. You will work from a fully stocked van with the vehicle's history in your hand before you arrive, and you are paid from the moment you leave home. Plantexpand keeps the plant and vehicles behind the UK's water, power, gas and telecoms networks working. Around 95% of our work is done on site, and our engineers fix first time on more than 90% of jobs, with an eight bay workshop and a planning team behind them. Starts 1 December 2026.

What you'll do

• Service, inspect and repair vans and light commercial vehicles on customer sites
  
• Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults with modern diagnostic equipment and fix them first time wherever you can
  
• Carry out vehicle safety and compliance checks, and record every job so each van stays compliant
  

What you'll need

• A Level 2 or Level 3 light vehicle qualification (IMI, City & Guilds or equivalent), or equivalent experience
  
• Confidence working on your own, out on site
  
• A full UK driving licence
  

Nice to have

• Mobile or roadside experience
  
• Fleet or LCV dealer experience
  

Hours

45 hours a week, plus 2.5 hours of paid meal breaks across the week. You are paid door to door, from when you leave home.

• Up to £45,000 a year, plus overtime and enhanced overtime
  
• Discretionary monthly performance bonus: £200 on target, up to £500 at stretch, based on company targets
  
• £200 a week when you are on the on-call rota, plus enhanced overtime and call-out payments
