Job summary

Octane Recruitment is seeking a Mobile Vehicle Technician for a permanent role in Bromley. You will service, maintain and repair vehicles at customers’ homes or workplaces, including EVs, on a 40-hour week with a 5-day schedule and Saturday shifts on a rotating basis.

Qualifications

• Must have a minimum Level 2 qualification in light vehicle maintenance and repair.
• Must have a minimum Level 3 light vehicle maintenance and repair qualification (City & Guilds, IMI, NVQ, or equivalent).
• Must have a minimum of 2 years’ post-qualification hands-on experience with vehicles.
• Ability to work independently and follow procedures.
• Full UK driving licence – max 6 points, no bans.

Responsibilities

• Servicing and repairing vehicles (including EVs) at the customer’s location.
• Perform routine maintenance tasks such as oil changes, tire rotations, and brake inspections.
• Diagnose and repair vehicle problems using diagnostic tools and software.
• Communicate with customers about issues and repair recommendations.
• Keep accurate records of work and parts used.

Job description

Mobile Vehicle Technician providing servicing, maintenance and repairs via pre-booked appointments at customers’ home addresses or places of work. This is a new and specialist division for the number one national breakdown company in the UK, with over 15 million members.

Location: Bromley

Pay / salary: £45,370 per annum (inclusive of LWA) OTE: Up to £57,000 per annum

Job type: Permanent / full-time role

Shift and schedule for the Mobile Vehicle Technician role Home-based, working 40 hours per week across 5 days (Monday to Saturday), 8am – 8pm, working 1 in 4 Saturdays. 1 day of overtime per month = £3,000 additional per year; 2 days of overtime per month = £5,000 additional per year, completely optional – more flexibility, more reward.

Job Responsibilities for the Mobile Vehicle Technician role

• Servicing and repairing vehicles (including EVs) at the customer’s selected location, e.g. driveway or office car park.


• Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as oil changes, tire rotations, and brake inspections.


• Diagnose and repair vehicle problems, including engine, transmission, brake, suspension, and electrical issues.


• Use diagnostic tools and software to identify and resolve complex issues.


• Communicate with customers about vehicle issues and repair recommendations.


• Payment handling through card transactions.


• Keep up to date with the latest automotive technology and repair techniques.


• Keep accurate records of all work performed and parts used.

What you’ll need to be considered for the Mobile Vehicle Technician role

• Must have a minimum Level 2 qualification in light vehicle maintenance and repair, or ideally a Level 3 light vehicle maintenance and repair qualification (City & Guilds, IMI, NVQ, or equivalent).


• Must have a minimum of 2 years’ post-qualification hands-on experience with vehicles, either in a workshop or a mobile vehicle role.


• The ability to work independently, make decisions on the go, and follow procedures.
