Job summary

Confidential Passenger Transport Operator is seeking a Mobile PSV Technician/Engineer to support the fleet across the North East. The role will involve servicing, maintenance and repairs on PSV vehicles in a mobile capacity, with call-outs and on-site servicing as needed.

Offering a Monday–Friday pattern with a minimum 38 hours, it also provides opportunities to increase earnings through overtime and enhanced-rate shifts. PSV exposure is highly valued, and a full UK driving licence is required.

Qualifications

• City & Guilds / NVQ Level 3 in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance and Repair is required.
• PSV/bus/coach or heavy CV maintenance experience is preferred.
• Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills are essential.

Responsibilities

• Carry out servicing, maintenance and repairs on PSV vehicles.
• Attend vehicle breakdowns and engineering call-outs when required.
• Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults.
• Complete mobile repairs and rectification work.
• Carry out vehicle inspections and preventative maintenance.
• Identify worn or defective components.
• Ensure vehicles meet DVSA and company standards.
• Complete maintenance records and paperwork.
• Work independently while supporting depot-based teams.
• Maintain high Health & Safety standards.

JOB DESCRIPTION

An excellent opportunity has become available for an experienced Mobile PSV Technician / Engineer to join the engineering team of a major passenger transport operator in the North East.

This is a mobile position where you will provide engineering support across the operator's fleet and locations, helping to keep vehicles safe, compliant and available for service.

The role offers flexible Monday-to-Friday working, a minimum of 38 hours per week and excellent opportunities to increase earnings through overtime, weekend work and enhanced-rate shifts.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Carrying out servicing, maintenance and repairs on PSV vehicles
• Attending vehicle breakdowns and engineering call-outs when required
• Diagnosing mechanical and electrical faults
• Completing mobile repairs and rectification work
• Carrying out vehicle inspections and preventative maintenance
• Identifying worn or defective components
• Ensuring vehicles meet required DVSA and company standards
• Completing all relevant engineering paperwork and maintenance records
• Working independently while supporting depot-based engineering teams
• Maintaining high standards of Health & Safety and workmanship

DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

• City & Guilds, NVQ Level 3 or equivalent qualification in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance and Repair
• Previous PSV, bus, coach or heavy commercial vehicle maintenance experience
• Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills
• The ability to carry out repairs independently in a mobile environment
• Good knowledge of vehicle inspection and maintenance procedures
• A full UK driving licence

A PCV driving licence would be advantageous but is not essential.

Experience working within a bus or coach engineering environment would be particularly beneficial, although experienced HGV Technicians looking to move into the PSV sector will also be considered.

PAY AND HOURS

Basic Rate: £20.54 per hour

Overtime Rate: £23.02 per hour

Weekend Rest-Day Rate: £27.05 per hour

Additional enhanced rates are available for night work, bank holidays and other qualifying shifts.

The standard working pattern is Monday to Friday with flexible working hours and a minimum of 38 hours per week.
