Job summary

Felixstowe School in England is seeking a Mobile Support Manager to join our pastoral team. This role provides on-call support during lessons, helps staff manage behaviour, and supports students' return to learning with calm, clear boundaries.

You will work across the school, supporting the Restoration Room and restorative reintegration, while building constructive relationships with families and external agencies.

Contract: Part-time, Permanent - 37 hours per week/ 40 weeks per year

Salary: NJC Scale 5, SP 12-17 (FTE: £29,541 - £32,046 / Actual: £25,834 - £28,024 per annum)

Be the calm presence that changes the direction of a young person's day. We are looking for an exceptional Mobile Support Manager to join our pastoral team: someone visible, resilient and brilliant with young people. This is not a teaching post, but it is a role with real influence. Every timely conversation, calm intervention and clear boundary can help a student return to learning, repair a relationship and make a better choice. No two days will be quite the same.

You will work across the school, responding when support is needed, helping students arrive at lessons ready to learn and bringing calm and clarity to challenging situations.

You will also support our Restoration Room and support students to achieve their full potential, helping them reflect, rebuild trust and make a successful return to school life in lessons.

What you will do

• Provide responsive "On Call" support during lessons and help staff manage behaviour incidents.
• Encourage students to arrive at lessons on time and record, monitor and report concerns relating to lateness or absence from lessons.
• Supervise students in the Restoration Room and support restorative, mentoring and reintegration work.
• Use de-escalation strategies and sound judgement to promote the safety of students, staff and visitors.
• Build constructive relationships with students, families and carers, keeping them appropriately informed and involved.
• Maintain accurate, confidential records and communicate effectively with colleagues and external agencies.
• Contribute to break and lunchtime duties, site security, school trips and wider school activities.

What we are looking for

• Above all, you will be someone young people can trust and colleagues can rely on.
• You will have experience of working successfully with young people and the confidence to respond to challenging behaviour without losing sight of the person behind it.
• You will communicate clearly, remain composed when situations are difficult and combine warmth and empathy with consistent professional boundaries.
• You will be comfortable taking initiative, working as part of a team and building constructive relationships with families and partner agencies.
• You may already work in a school, youth service, alternative provision, care, community safety or another setting where relationships, sound judgement and calm decision-making matter.
• You do not need to be a teacher.
• You do need to believe that young people can change, that high expectations and strong relationships belong together, and that the right adult at the right moment can make all the difference.
