Job summary

Kemp Recruitment Ltd is seeking a Service Technician to join their Bristol area team. The role involves servicing forklifts and material handling equipment across Bristol and surrounding areas, with a strong emphasis on safety inspections, hydraulics, mast and forks, engine/battery checks, and preventive maintenance.

A full UK driving licence is required, and the package includes occasional overtime with enhanced rates.

Qualifications

• Experience as a Field Service Engineer or similar role.
• Experience working with forklift trucks/material handling equipment.
• Hold a valid Full UK Driving Licence.

Responsibilities

• Conduct safety inspections on forklifts including brakes, steering, horn, lights, seat belt and emergency systems.
• Check hydraulics, oil levels, leaks and lifting performance.
• Inspect mast, forks, rollers, carriage and lifting mechanism.
• Assess engine fluids or battery condition on diesel/LPG/electric models.
• Check tyres and wheels, and overall wheel components.
• Lubricate moving parts and pivot points.
• Perform adjustments and minor repairs as needed.
• Prepare service reports detailing checks, defects and work carried out.

Job Title: Service Technician

Location: Bristol and surrounding areas

OTE: £47,275+

We are currently recruiting for a Field Service Engineer to join a well-established business based in Bristol.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced field service engineer, with a background working on forklift trucks or similar material handling equipment, to join a growing team.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Safety inspection - brakes, steering, horn, lights, seat belt, warning devices and emergency systems.
• Hydraulics - checking hydraulic oil, hoses, cylinders, leaks and lifting performance.
• Mast and forks - inspecting forks for wear/cracks, mast chains, rollers, carriage and lifting mechanism.
• Engine/battery - checking engine fluids and filters on diesel/LPG models, or battery condition, charging and connections on electric forklifts.
• Tyres/wheels - checking tyre condition, pressure and wheel components.
• Lubrication - greasing moving parts and pivot points.
• Fluid levels - engine oil, coolant, hydraulic oil, transmission fluid, etc., depending on the forklift.
• Adjustments and minor repairs - tightening, replacing worn consumables and correcting faults found during the service.
• Service report - recording what was checked, any defects found and work carried out.

Experience you will need:

• Previous experience as a Field Service Engineer, Service Engineer or Maintenance Engineer
• Experience working with forklift trucks / material handling equipment
• Full UK driving licence

Your Package:

• Monday-Friday with flexible on start/finish times (40hrs)
• Overtime opportunities with ample available & on call enhancements
• Overime paid at 1.5x
• Basic Salary: Up to £34,000
• OTE (5 hours OT/week): Up to £40,638
• OTE (10 hours OT/week): Up to £47,275
• Door to door pay, company van &fuel card
• 25 days holiday +b/h, 5% pension contribution, private medical cover after service
• (increasing holiday entitlement to 28 days plus bank holidays from Jan 27, then 30 from Jan 28.)
