Job description

Hourly rate: GBP 13.00 per hour.

Based at: Wallasey Service Centre CH44 7HX. Full UK driving licence required.

Full Time Hours: 8:00 - 17:00, Monday to Friday.

We are seeking Field Service Engineers for our Wallasey Service Centre, covering areas such as Wirral, Wigan, Chester, Ellesmere Port, Liverpool, South Sefton, Southport, and Formby. Applications from residents in these areas are encouraged. As a healthcare equipment provider, Ross Care partners with the NHS to supply essential equipment and aids to support daily life.

Job Purpose

The Mobile Service Technician will initially undergo training in the workshop to recondition wheelchair equipment, gaining essential product knowledge. Post-training, duties include delivering, collecting, repairing, and servicing wheelchairs, with an aim for first-time fixes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Delivering and collecting wheelchairs from service users' homes and NHS departments, following Infection Control policies.
  • Servicing and repairing wheelchairs in the field, aiming for first-time fixes.
  • Completing all job paperwork accurately, including parts used and actions taken.
  • Using PPE as instructed.
  • Taking on out-of-hours responsibilities as rostered.
  • Driving and using the company vehicle responsibly, adhering to health and safety regulations.
  • Maintaining the vehicle's cleanliness and stock levels.
  • Conducting weekly vehicle safety and van checks.
  • Providing professional customer service, wearing uniform and ID, maintaining a clean uniform.
  • Prioritising and organising workload, consulting with Line Manager as needed.
  • Maintaining tools and equipment responsibly.
  • Undertaking necessary training to maintain role skills.
Qualifications
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Successful enhanced DBS check
  • General workshop knowledge
  • Basic electrical knowledge (12v/24v D.C. systems)
  • Ability to handle loads safely
  • Experience in face-to-face customer contact
  • Previous delivery driver experience
  • Understanding of disabilities
  • Flexible working approach
  • Initiative within role boundaries
  • Ability to use mobile phones for relaying photographs
  • Good communication skills
  • Ability to give clear instructions
  • Awareness of handheld scanners
