Job summary

Education Authority in Northern Ireland seeks a Catering Manager to lead school kitchen operations across multiple sites. You will manage daily cooking activities, organize service points, and ensure food safety standards meet HACCP guidelines.

Lead a catering team, handle orders and stock control, and promote meals to pupils and staff. A retainer is paid in school holidays; 35 hours per week, part-time role based in Newtownabbey area.

Qualifications

• NVQ2 in food prep and cooking or City & Guilds 706-1/706-2, or two years catering experience.
• Knowledge of HACCP and safe food handling; allergen and special diets.
• Willingness to undertake job-related training; access to transport.
• Excellent leadership and people management abilities.
• Strong planning, organisational and decision-making skills.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day kitchen management and service delivery.
• Organise all food service, stock, orders, and wastage control.
• Ensure HACCP, allergen management and food safety compliance.
• Promote catering service to parents, pupils, and staff.
• Lead staff training, appraisals and scheduling.
