Job summary

Octane Recruitment Limited is seeking a Roadside Technician in Cardiff for a field-based role with a national breakdown company. 40 hours per week, shifts 6am–12am, overtime opportunities.

You will attend roadside breakdowns, perform mechanical and electrical repairs at the roadside, diagnose issues with tools, and advise members on next steps. Must have Level 2/3 qualifications and a UK driving licence with up to 6 points.

Qualifications

• Must have a minimum Level 2 qualification in light vehicle maintenance and repair, or ideally a Level 3 light vehicle maintenance and repair qualification.
• Must have a minimum of 2 years' post-qualification hands-on experience with vehicles, either in a workshop or a mobile vehicle role.
• Must have a full UK driving licence - max 6 points, no bans.

Responsibilities

• Attend roadside breakdowns and assess vehicle faults quickly and accurately.
• Carry out mechanical and electrical repairs at the roadside, including battery replacements, wheel changes, and minor engine fixes.
• Use diagnostic tools to identify issues and determine repair options.
• Provide temporary solutions when full repair isn't possible, ensuring member mobility.
• Advise members clearly on next steps, including recovery if needed.
• Work safely and efficiently in varied environments and conditions.
