Job summary

Lancashire Renewables Ltd is seeking a Mobile Plant Relief Operative to safely operate mobile plant equipment across our waste processing site and support the mobile plant team on processing tasks. You will collaborate with weighbridge, logistics and maintenance teams to maintain smooth operations and participate in safety briefings.

The role requires hands-on ability, good communication skills and a proactive attitude toward health, safety, and site organisation.

Qualifications

• Experience operating wheeled loading shovels and tele-truck/forklift equipment.
• NPORS qualification or equivalent is highly desirable; training may be provided.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills are essential.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate mobile plant equipment across the site.
• Support the mobile plant team and general processing activities to keep operations running smoothly.
• Coordinate with weighbridge, logistics, maintenance and other site operatives.
• Carry out routine paperwork and attend safety briefings.

Job description

The Mobile Plant Relief Operative will be responsible for the safe undertaking of mobile plant activities within the waste processing operation. Additionally, when required, support the mobile plant team and carry out general process operative activities associated with processing operations and the general site.

This role involves safely and efficiently operating mobile plant equipment across the site and supporting general processing activities to keep everything running smoothly. You'll work closely with the weighbridge team, logistics, maintenance, and other site operatives to keep waste processing operations on track, jumping in with hands‑on help when needed. You'll also take care of routine paperwork and attend regular team meetings and safety briefings. Staying safe and compliant is a big part of the job, so you'll carry out checks on vehicles, handle basic maintenance, and help keep the site clean and tidy.

To be successful in this position, it is essential that you have experience operating a Wheeled Loading Shovel and Tele-truck / Forklift Truck (FLT).

Holding a current NPORS qualification or an equivalent certification is highly desirable; however, training may be provided under a training agreement for candidates who can demonstrate relevant experience or hold alternative recognised certifications.

You will also have:

• Knowledge of basic mobile plant inspections and daily safety checks.
• Strong communication skills, including the effective use of radio communications.
• Good organisational and time management skills.
• A proactive approach to working as part of a team.
• A strong commitment to health, safety, and safe working practices.

Lancashire Renewables Ltd was established for the operation and management of the two waste treatment facilities built for the Lancashire Waste Contract.

Our two facilities in Thornton and Leyland are manned 365 days a year. Both sites can process over 5,000 tonnes of residual (black bin bag) waste per week and divert 95% of this material away from landfill.
