Mobile Plant Operator — Ship Loading & Recycling

Job summary

S. Norton & Co Ltd in Greater London is seeking a proactive Material Handler with experience in heavy mobile plant to load/unload materials, feed shredders, and assist with ship loading in a metal recycling environment.

You will operate 360 material handlers and wheel loaders, perform daily machine checks, wear PPE, and work as part of a team to meet shipping schedules and safety protocols.

Qualifications

• Proven track record in a comparable role (heavy plant work).
• Proven ability to drive heavy mobile plant.
• Proven ability to load ships from the dockside (training can be given).
• Capable of basic maintenance including greasing, oiling and fueling.
• Full clean driving licence.
• Good literacy and numeracy skills.
• NVQ Level 3+ or equivalent in a relevant subject or comparable experience.

Responsibilities

• Move a variety of material, sometimes in confined spaces.
• Feed shredder, shears and balers as required.
• Load and unload materials from heavy goods vehicles.
• Load ships in a safe and orderly manner.
• Carry out daily machine start-up, checks and reports to line managers.
