Job summary

GAP Group Limited is seeking a Mobile Fitter to service and maintain a fleet of diggers, dumpers, and hand tools from a home depot, with work at depots and customer sites to keep equipment safe, reliable, and ready for use.

You will diagnose faults, perform repairs, update service records, and ensure high safety standards, with opportunities for progression within a growing, employee-friendly equipment hire leader.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a plant mechanic/fitter with a relevant qualification or time-served background.
• Solid up-to-date knowledge of heavy plant machinery maintenance.
• Ability to work independently while staying calm under pressure.
• A full valid driving licence is essential.

Responsibilities

• Servicing and maintaining a wide range of plant and tool equipment within the GAP fleet.
• Diagnosing faults and carrying out repairs efficiently, both in the depots and on customer sites.
• Completing servicing, inspections, and repairs to maintain high standards of safety and reliability.
• Accurately updating service records, tagging equipment, and completing test certificates and associated paperwork.
• Working independently on customer sites while complying with GAP and customer Health & Safety requirements.
• Maintaining a clean, organised, and well presented vehicle and workspace.
• Supporting general workshop and depot activities as required.
