Working under the direction of the Depot Supervisor, the Mobile Fitter will maintain, fault‑find and repair the hydraulic and electrical systems of plant machinery, referencing their corresponding drawings. The role is based at the Newark HQ with travel to sites across the UK.
Responsibilities
- Report directly to the Depot Supervisor and set high professional standards in safety, quality, and productivity.
- Carry out duties directed by the Deputy Supervisor.
- Check all machinery that comes from and goes to sites.
- Complete pre‑hire inspection sheets, distribute them with the relevant machine, and store copies in the machine files.
- Carry out post‑hire inspections, record any damages or faults, and pass information on as required.
- Plan and prioritise future workload with the Depot Supervisor.
- Order spare parts as required with stores.
- Review weekly maintenance sheets, record faults, and assist in planning repairs.
- Update fleet hours and servicing data on the dashboard.
- Maintain records for all rigs in line with STEQ processes.
- Ensure operations comply with company Health & Safety, Quality, and Environmental policies, Integrated Management System, and method statements.
- Check equipment before use and keep it well maintained and serviced.
- Be aware of the Integrated Management System, company policies, and relevant procedures and risk assessments.
- Work effectively as part of a team and communicate clearly with others.
- Be punctual and work hours as directed by the Foreman and/or management.
- Attend breakdowns at customer sites as required, which may involve staying away from home in the evenings.
Qualifications and Experience
- Full UK driving licence (Company Van and tools provided).
- Valid CSCS card would be advantageous.
- NVQ in Plant Maintenance (or equivalent).
- Minimum two years experience working with heavy machinery, including plant, construction machinery, drilling & piling rigs, agricultural or military equipment.
- Experience with hydraulics & electrics, and mobile heavy plant maintenance.
- Understanding of health and safety.
- Practical and physical skills.

Salary and Benefits
£35,000 – £40,000 (OTE 55,000) plus overtime, door‑to‑door pay, company van, healthcare, 30 days holiday, bonus and benefits.
