Job Title: Apprentice Painter & Decorator

EQUANS is looking for an Apprentice Painter & Decorator to join our team in Crewe on a permanent basis. This is a full-time role working Monday to Friday. On offer is a competitive salary and benefits package.

The individual must be reliable and professional at all times, providing education, qualification, and employment records for the last 5 years. Effective communication skills are essential, along with the ability to deal with internal and external customers at all levels. The candidate should be able to work independently while following set procedures, possess good time management and organizational skills, and demonstrate flexibility in working patterns.

Responsibilities:
  1. Carry out efficient and cost-effective painting and decorating work as instructed.
  2. Burn off existing paintwork and prepare surfaces by rubbing down and filling as necessary for a smooth finish.
  3. Apply various paint products, including primer, undercoat, and gloss, using brushes and rollers on walls, ceilings, doors, and timber sections according to specifications and manufacturer instructions.
  4. Remove existing wall coverings by steaming or scraping to prepare surfaces for new wallpaper.
  5. Wallpaper walls and ceilings following design specifications and manufacturer instructions.
  6. Apply spray finishes to walls and ceilings as per specifications.
  7. Prepare and apply finishes such as varnish, sealer, bitumen, lead, or stain as needed.
  8. Apply emulsion, eggshell, and masonry paints according to instructions.
  9. Perform tasks within the Painting and Decorating craft as directed by team leaders or management.
  10. Complete and submit documentation promptly.
  11. Ensure work quality meets standards and is fit for purpose.
  12. Participate in apprentice training.
  13. Perform other duties as instructed by the Minor Works Team Leader - Painting.
