Job Overview
- Provide first response and self-delivery of maintenance and engineering services for the MSD maintenance contract portfolio.
- Complete PPM tasks and activities in accordance with contracted service level agreements.
- Perform reactive works as per service agreements.
- Handle quoted works following contractual terms.
- Attend site where subcontractors are required for specialist works.
- Supervise when necessary during subcontractor activities.
- Identify additional work requirements when planned or reactive tasks cannot be completed on time.
- Complete electronic and paper documentation to evidence work through audits and reviews.
- Maintain a safe working environment at all times.
- Conduct surveys, audits, and reviews of building assets to assist in report compilation.
- Observe company values, ensuring high standards of conduct, quality, sustainability, value for money, and efficiency.
- Be available for overtime and call-outs as required by business needs.
Main Duties
- Carry out scheduled maintenance and repair of building services assets following specifications, manufacturer guidelines, standards, and site-specific procedures.
- Respond to breakdowns and reactive calls promptly.
- Diagnose faults and complete repairs at first response or advise on appropriate actions.
- Monitor plant, equipment, and systems during work to ensure service continuity or inform the customer of required downtime.
- Research spare parts, components, fixtures, and fittings using manufacturer manuals or supplier databases.
- Provide information on alternative parts if original parts are obsolete, ensuring they meet specifications and performance criteria.
- Conduct dynamic risk assessments to review and mitigate risks before task completion.
- Escalate concerns regarding safety or risk to line managers.
Qualifications and Experience
- Qualification in at least one of the following: C&G Level 3 or equivalent in Mechanical, Electrical, Air Conditioning, Refrigeration; ONC/HNC in building services, mechanical, or electrical engineering; Recognised EITB apprenticeship or similar.
- At least 2 years of experience in engineering and maintenance within the building services industry.
- Knowledge of electrical and mechanical maintenance processes and procedures.
- Basic IT and computer skills.
- Full driving license (if applicable).
- Ability to work under pressure and during unsociable hours.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
