Job summary

Gwynedd Council is seeking a General Kitchen Assistant to support school kitchens and dining areas, covering staff absences on short notice, preparing simple food, serving meals, and cleaning equipment and spaces. You will work as part of the school and kitchen teams, with Welsh/English bilingual requirements.

A basic food hygiene qualification or agreement to pass within 3 months is essential, plus a full driving licence and own car for work.

Qualifications

• Basic food hygiene knowledge or willingness to complete the course within 3 months of appointment.
• Full driving licence and car owner; willing to use own vehicle for work (business use).

Responsibilities

• Cover staff absences by working in the kitchen at short notice.
• Assist the Cook in Charge with preparing simple food and serving meals.
• Keep kitchen and dining areas clean and tidy, including equipment.
• Wash dishes and manage general kitchen duties.
• Follow Gwynedd Council Health and Safety and Food Hygiene policies.
• Provide personal cleanliness and wear appropriate uniform.
• Carry out any other reasonable duties as required by the salary level.
