Job summary

Gwynedd Council is seeking a Kitchen Supervisor to cover for the Cook in Charge, planning, preparing and serving meals in school kitchens and training staff on site.

You will ensure food safety, health and safety compliance, manage stock and ordering, supervise kitchen assistants, and support events and special functions as required.

Flexibility for unsocial hours, commitment to equality and safeguarding, and the ability to work as part of a school team are essential.

Qualifications

• Must have basic food hygiene
• Nutrition and diet qualification (Level 2) within 3 months of employment
• Full driving licence and car for work (business use)
• Experience supervising kitchen staff
• Knowledge of Health and Safety in food prep and service
• Ability to plan menus, order food and manage stock

Responsibilities

• Provide food, including menu planning, ordering, quantities, and cooking.
• Comply with Health and Safety and Food Safety regulations affecting staff and users.
• Supervise and train kitchen staff; allocate duties and organise work.
• Arrange and supervise food service and serving.
• Ensure staff receive Health and Safety and Food Safety induction training.
• Maintain kitchen hygiene and safety standards.
• Oversee equipment maintenance and security of the kitchen.
• Perform administrative duties: ordering supplies, stock records, event logs.
