Job summary

Thames Water is seeking an Instrumentation, Controls & Automation Technician to join our Water Production team based at Latton WTW. This mobile role covers the Cotswold and Swindon area with occasional wider travel to the West Thames Valley, including Oxford, to support treatment works, boosters and reservoirs.

You will maintain, fault‑find and calibrate ICA assets, work with SCADA and PLC systems, liaise with contractors, and contribute to safety and compliance while delivering reliable water

Qualifications

• Ideal: HNC or NVQ Level 3 in instrumentation, control and automation.
• Desirable: 18th Edition (BS7671) qualification.
• Good understanding of operational plant and control systems.
• Knowledge of SCADA/PLC networks and associated hardware.
• Ability to read and fault-find from circuit diagrams.

Responsibilities

• Install, commission, maintain and repair water production assets including instrumentation.
• Work with SCADA systems and PLCs; support process control networks.
• Liaise with contractors and suppliers as needed.
• Investigate asset failures and implement rapid repairs to avoid interruptions.
• Provide technical advice and training support where appropriate.
