Job summary

Holt Automotive is seeking an experienced Field Service Engineer to service, maintain and repair forklift trucks across customer sites in Warrington, Liverpool and Preston areas. The role demands a mechanically biased engineer who can work independently and handle customer interactions professionally.

Typical trucks range 1.5–3 tonnes, with tasks including preventative maintenance, breakdown repairs, fault finding and paperwork. A UK driving licence and strong IT literacy are essential.

Job description

Location: Warrington, Liverpool, Preston & surrounding areas

Salary: £32,000 £36,000 depending on experience

Hours: 40 hours per week, approximately 8:00am 4:30pm

Overtime: Available when required and paid in addition to salary

Field Service Engineer We are currently recruiting for an experienced Field Service Engineer to join a leading material handling business, working across customer sites throughout the Warrington, Liverpool and Preston areas.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a mechanically biased engineer who enjoys working independently, solving technical problems and dealing directly with customers.

You will be responsible for servicing, maintaining and repairing a range of forklift trucks, including gas, diesel and electric models.

The majority of trucks will be between 1.5 and 3 tonnes, although you may also work on larger trucks up to 10 tonnes.

The Role

As a Field Service Engineer, your responsibilities will include:

• Carrying out planned preventative maintenance on forklift trucks
• Attending breakdowns and completing repairs
• Diagnosing faults and carrying out effective fault finding
• Completing service and repair reports accurately
• Ordering parts as required
• Managing your own diary and workload
• Working professionally and positively at customer sites
• Maintaining high standards of customer service and engineering quality

About You

• NVQ Level 3 or equivalent engineering qualification
• A mechanically biased engineering background
• Several years of hands‑on engineering experience
• Strong IT literacy
• A full UK driving licence
• Excellent communication and customer service skills
• A proactive, enthusiastic and reliable approach to work
• The ability to work independently and manage your own workload

Experience Considered

• Forklift truck experience is highly desirable, particularly experience working on gas, diesel or electric trucks.
• However, engineers from other mechanical engineering backgrounds will also be considered, including:
• Plant
• Agricultural machinery
• Automotive
• Material handling
• Experience with hydraulics and/or electrical systems would also be highly advantageous.
