Job summary

West Sussex County Council is recruiting Facilities Officers to deliver facilities management across sites in Worthing, Lancing and Shoreham. The role is part-time (24 hours per week) and includes monitoring maintenance, ensuring safety and compliance, and supervising contractors.

It is a mobile role requiring travel between sites, with occasional out‑of‑hours work. Officers receive a company van, a uniform, PPE and tools.

Qualifications

• Strong communication and relationship-building with colleagues, contractors and service users.
• Proactive and adaptable approach with problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
• Good practical maintenance and DIY skills including basic plumbing, decorating and carpentry.

Responsibilities

• Monitor maintenance and repairs across sites.
• Support statutory compliance (fire, water, asbestos).
• Oversee contractors such as cleaning and grounds maintenance.
