Job summary

Mitie is seeking a Mobile Fabric Engineer to deliver high-quality building fabric maintenance across Metropolitan Police sites in North West London. You will work on planned and reactive maintenance across designated buildings, supported by a company van and full PPE.

The role covers carpentry, basic plumbing, painting, plastering, and general fabric upkeep, with emphasis on health and safety and compliance. Vetting is essential, and you will liaise professionally with clients and site teams.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in building fabric or multi-trade roles (carpentry preferred but not essential).
• Full UK driving licence; mobile role with van provided.
• Strong understanding of health and safety standards and safe working practices.
• Ability to work independently across multiple sites with good problem-solving skills.
• Ability to pass Metropolitan Police vetting (essential), potentially 7–10 months.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned preventive maintenance and reactive fabric repairs across MET Police buildings.
• Perform carpentry, basic plumbing, painting, plastering, and general fabric maintenance.
• Complete minor repairs to fixtures, doors, walls, and finishes.
• Ensure work is completed safely, to a high standard, and per SLAs/KPIs.
• Maintain accurate records using Mitie systems (job sheets, asset updates, compliance).
• Liaise with client and site personnel to minimise disruption in sensitive environments.
• Diagnose issues, propose solutions, escalate complex problems as needed.
• Participate in out-of-hours rota to support emergency call-outs on police estates.

Role Responsibilities

• Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive fabric repairs across designated MET Police buildings.
• Perform carpentry, basic plumbing, painting, plastering, and general building fabric maintenance as required.
• Complete minor repairs to fixtures, fittings, doors, walls, partitions, and building finishes.
• Ensure all work is completed safely, to a high standard, and in accordance with contractual SLAs and KPIs.
• Maintain accurate records using Mitie systems, including job sheets, asset updates, and compliance documentation.
• Liaise professionally with the client and site personnel, ensuring minimal disruption to sensitive environments.
• Diagnose issues, propose solutions, and escalate complex problems when required.
• Participate in the out-of-hours rota (where applicable) to support emergency call‑outs on police estates.

Required Qualifications

Applicants must meet the below defined requirements for the role:
