Job summary

ABM is looking for a Fabric Engineer to join their team. The primary responsibilities involve maintenance and repair tasks within the London Fire Brigade estate. The successful candidate must possess essential skills in carpentry, painting, and locksmithing, as well as experience handling general handyman duties.

Qualifications

• Experience in carpentry and painting/plastering.
• Completion of locksmith courses and additional trade qualifications.
• Awareness of L8 regulations and IPAF/PASMA certifications.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and repair the London Fire Brigade estate.
• Complete necessary paperwork and obtain signatures on site.
• Conduct Fire Door inspections following SFG20 requirements.
• Perform general handyman duties including plastering and painting.

LOCATION: London Fire Brigade

SHIFT PATTERN: Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week

SALARY: Competitive

ROLE OVERVIEW AND PURPOSE

• You will be utilising your core skills as a Fabric Engineer to conduct vital maintenance and repair to the London Fire Brigade estate.
• Responsible for own Health & Safety on site and follow Method Statements and Risk Assessments as standard on all sites, highlighting specific requirements as required.
• Assist with the completion of standard maintenance and repair within the Mechanical, Electrical & Building Fabric trades.
• Provide accurate quotes above comprehensive threshold to an accurate standard for a quote submission.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Completing all necessary paperwork for the customer whilst on site and obtaining a customer’s signature to enable the job attended to be invoiced without any delays.
• Completing engineer’s worksheet in full, giving full details of plant that requires additional work.
• Identifying lifecycle replacement requirements.
• Conduct Fire Door inspections in line with SFG20 requirements.
• Conduct locksmith repair and replace requirements.
• Conduct Tiling Repairs and new installations.
• Glazing Repairs.
• Plastering & Painting repairs/light installations.
• General Carpentry/Handyman duties.

HEALTH & SAFETY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Always follow Group and company policies and procedures.
• Report any apparent deficiencies in systems of work or equipment provided that may result in failure of service delivery or risk to health and safety or the environment.
• Use all work equipment and personal PPE properly and in accordance with training received.
• Report any issues or training needs to your Line manager and/or via your divisional incident reporting system.
