Mobile Electrical Engineer
Role Purpose:
The Mobile Electrical Engineer will carry out PPM and Reactive Activities across various commercial premises, ideally located in the required area. Candidates should have commercial experience and be prepared to assist with reactive and PPM tasks, including some installation work. The core focus is on maintenance.
This role requires a strong electrical skillset with a multi-skilled background and experience in Building Services.
This is a hands-on role suited for individuals who can work independently, proactively, and are reliable team players with excellent communication skills, as this is a client-facing position. The ability to produce quotes for additional works, including material costs and work descriptions, is essential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform reactive maintenance repairs across various contracts.
- Assess and order parts and equipment necessary for tasks.
- Work in accordance with recognized industry standards.
- Participate in flexible working hours and out-of-hours emergency cover as required.
- Undertake training to maintain current knowledge and professional qualifications, including health and safety courses.
- Assist other trades as needed.
- Update and close completed tasks on the CAFM system.
- Ensure engineering standards are maintained for optimal operation and reliability.
- Adhere to company QA and site procedures, as well as health and safety policies.
- Inspect services and proactively address call outs/repairs.
- Attend emergencies, both during and outside normal hours.
- Maintain company-issued tools in safe condition.
- Produce detailed reports for remedial works and technical situations.
- Update on-site log books for compliance.
- Conduct electrical testing and complete certificates or documentation.
- Complete method statements and risk assessments as necessary.
- Perform electrical fault finding, repairs, and system testing, including emergency & non-emergency lighting, fire alarms, distribution boards, and other electrical systems.
Typical Daily Activities:
- Develop and manage stakeholder relationships to ensure service levels.
- Meet or exceed Key Performance Indicators.
- Deliver high-quality service and gather client feedback.
- Implement operational procedures for reliability and efficiency.
- Lead initiatives like system rollouts, training, and regional programs.
- Manage site financial operations and ensure compliance with policies.
- Ensure data integrity and perform audits.
- Address user complaints and monitor supplier performance.
- Conduct regular site inspections and manage work orders.
- Support out-of-hours issues and emergency responses.
- Coordinate minor projects and change management processes.
- Generate reports and conduct presentations.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- NVQ 3 in Electrical Installation
- C&G Level 2 and 3 Diplomas in Electrical Installation
- C&G 2360 Parts 1 & 2 or 2330 Levels 2 & 3
- C&G 2391 or 2394 & 2395
- 18th edition certificate
- Extensive knowledge of commercial electrical systems
- Strong electrical and mechanical maintenance experience
- Knowledge of heating and air conditioning systems
- Basic plumbing, carpentry, and fabric skills (advantageous)
- Full UK Driving License
- Knowledge of building fabric and basic reactive repairs
- Extensive knowledge of health & safety regulations
- Ability to work independently and proactively
- Presentable with a smart appearance
- Available for call-outs
- Good communication skills
- Ability to work with smartphones and PDAs
- Team-oriented, self-motivated, and adaptable
- Flexible working hours, including weekends and evenings
- IPAF 3a & 3b certification
- Plasma certification
