Job summary

Mitie is seeking a Mobile Electrical Engineer to maintain and repair electrical and mechanical services across seven secondary schools under a PFI contract. The role involves PPM, reactive maintenance, and on-call rosters, with travel between Hertfordshire, Luton and Reading sites.

You will work within a professional facilities management team, ensuring health and safety compliance and accurate documentation. A UK driving licence and relevant electrical qualifications are required.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3 Electrical qualification or equivalent.
• PASMA certification.
• Experience in maintenance, testing and fault finding on electrical and mechanical systems.
• Knowledge of boiler plant, ventilation, pumps, generators, switchgear, power and lighting systems.
• Strong health and safety practices.

Responsibilities

• Carry out Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) and emergency lighting tests.
• Respond to reactive and emergency breakdowns within SLA timescales.
• Complete job reports and maintain maintenance records accurately.
• Replace lighting and perform general electrical maintenance.
• Escort subcontractors, take meter readings and collect environmental data.
• Support lifecycle projects and on-site maintenance across seven schools.
• Travel between seven secondary schools as part of the mobile role and participate in on-call rota.
• Ensure compliance with health and safety procedures and company policies.

We're looking for a Mobile Electrical Engineer who will undertake the maintenance and repair of electrical and mechanical services across seven secondary schools within a PFI contract.

Role Responsibilities:

• Carry out Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM), emergency lighting tests and associated remedial works.
• Respond to reactive and emergency breakdowns, ensuring tasks are completed within SLA timescales.
• Complete job reports, damage reports and maintain accurate maintenance records.
• Replace lighting, including high-level lighting, and undertake general electrical maintenance.
• Escort subcontractors, take meter readings and collect environmental monitoring data as required.
• Support lifecycle projects, reactive emergencies and general maintenance activities across all school sites.
• Travel between seven secondary schools as part of this mobile role and participate in the on-call rota.
• Ensure compliance with health and safety procedures, risk assessments and company policies.

Required Qualifications: Applicants must meet the below defined requirements for the role.

• NVQ Level 3 Electrical qualification with City & Guilds or equivalent certification.
• PASMA certification.
• Experience in maintenance, testing and fault finding on electrical and mechanical systems.
• Knowledge of boiler plant, ventilation, pumps, generators, switchgear, power and lighting systems.
• Strong understanding of health and safety and safe working practices.
• Good communication skills, strong customer focus and the ability to complete documentation accurately.
• Full UK Driving Licence.
