Job summary

Mitie Group plc. is seeking a Mobile Electrical Engineer to maintain and repair electrical and mechanical services across seven secondary schools within a PFI contract. You will carry out PPM, respond to breakdowns and keep detailed maintenance records.

The role involves traveling between Hertfordshire, Luton and Reading, on-call duties, and working within health and safety guidelines in a varied engineering team. Training and development are provided.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3 Electrical qualification with City & Guilds or equivalent.
• PASMA certification.
• Experience in maintenance, testing and fault finding on electrical and mechanical systems.
• Knowledge of boiler plant, ventilation, pumps, generators, switchgear, power and lighting systems.
• Strong understanding of health and safety and safe working practices.
• Good communication skills and ability to complete documentation accurately.
• Full UK Driving Licence.

Responsibilities

• Carry out Planned Preventive Maintenance (PPM), emergency lighting tests and associated remedial works.
• Respond to reactive and emergency breakdowns, ensuring tasks are completed within SLA timescales.
• Complete job reports, damage reports and maintain accurate maintenance records.
• Replace lighting, including high-level lighting, and undertake general electrical maintenance.
• Escort subcontractors, take meter readings and collect environmental monitoring data as required.
• Support lifecycle projects, reactive emergencies and general maintenance activities across all school sites.
• Travel between seven secondary schools as part of this mobile role and participate in the on-call rota.
• Ensure compliance with health and safety procedures, risk assessments and company policies.
