Job Purpose/Objectives of a Mobile Crane Operator
Provide high-quality lifting services to customers, prioritizing safety for employees, customers, and the public.
Key Responsibilities of a Mobile Crane Operator
- Operate cranes according to manufacturer’s instructions at all times.
- Comply with road traffic regulations.
- Wear PPE appropriately at all times.
- Use outriggers correctly, ensuring they are on level ground.
- Set and check the rated capacity limiter and indicator.
- Perform manual handling tasks correctly, e.g., Outrigger Pans.
- Coordinate with Site/Project Managers upon arrival.
- Resist unsafe pressures from others.
- Understand and apply information from reports and duty charts.
- Be aware of climatic effects like wind on crane operation.
- Take action to avoid dangerous situations, including stopping operations if necessary.
- Access and exit the crane safely using ladders and grab rails.
- Undergo training on specific crane models, rigging, and maintenance procedures.
- Continuously seek improvements in role performance.
Person Specification
Education/Knowledge/Experience
- Full Driver’s License
- HGV Class C License
- Valid Blue CPCS card with Mobile Crane Operator authorization
- Previous mobile crane operating experience
- Knowledge of wind and climatic effects on cranes and loads
- Strong understanding of road traffic regulations
