Job summary

Gold Group currently seeks a Mobile Combustion Engineer based in Birmingham to service and repair commercial and domestic gas equipment across the West Midlands, including Stoke-on-Trent. A City & Guilds Level 3 in Plumbing and extensive gas qualifications are required. A full driving licence is essential.

You will operate across multiple sites, maintain accurate documentation and update CAFM in real time, with a van and fuel card provided. Great career progression opportunities are offered.

Qualifications

• Must hold City & Guilds Level 3 in Plumbing or equivalent.
• CCN1 and COCN1 are mandatory for domestic and commercial work.
• CPA1 and additional gas safety certifications are highly desirable.
• Domestic (CENWAT) and commercial (CODNCO1) gas qualifications required.
• CIGA1/CDGA1 and ICPN1 pipework certifications preferred.
• CCP1 and BMP1 related to commercial plant and gas boosters included.

Responsibilities

• Work on Commercial Boilers, Gas Fire Radiant Heaters, Water Heaters, Control valves and domestic boilers.
• Cover sites within the contract area (Birmingham, Stoke-on-Trent and Midlands).
• Complete PPM, reactive and breakdown paperwork promptly to the contract administrator.
• Update CAFM system in real time with job details and follow-on works.
• Take part in on-call rota and identify improvements across sites.

Brief

Mobile Combustion Engineer needed for a large well known Facilities Management organisation based in Birmingham who are looking to employ an experienced and well-rounded Mobile Combustion Engineer that takes pride in their work.

The successful candidate must have a City & Guilds Level 3 in Plumbing and have a keen interest in becoming a Mobile Combustion Engineer.

What the role entails:

• Working on the following equipment but not limited to; Commercial Boilers, Associated Gas Equipment, Gas Fire Radiant Heaters, Water Heaters, Control valves, Domestic Boilers
• Cover numerous sites that fall within the contract such as Stoke Schools and Guide Dogs
• Ensure that all relevant paperwork is completed regarding PPM, reactive and breakdown works and that it is passed without delay to the contract administrator
• Complete supplementary documentation / E-Forms relating to the maintenance task as dictated by your line manager
• Update customers CAFM system in real time with start/wait/stop completion times and provide full description of works undertaken, advising of any follow-on works required
• Ensure reactive tasks throughout the sites are completed and be proactive in highlighting areas where improvements can be made. Identify and record all plant failures using quotation forms and issue to line manager. This is to be indicated and recorded within the CAFM system
• Take part in the on call rota

What experience you need to be the successful Mobile Combustion Engineer:

• A recognised industry qualification will be required, and previous experience is essential
• CCN1: Core Domestic Gas Safety (mandatory for domestic work)
• COCN1: Core Commercial Gas Safety (mandatory for commercial work)
• CPA1: Combustion Performance Analysis (often bundled with core) [1,2]
• Domestic (Natural Gas): CENWAT (boilers)
• Commercial/Industrial: Includes CODNCO1 (domestic to commercial switch)
• CIGA1/CDGA1: (commercial appliances), and pipework certifications like ICPN1
• BMP1: Gas boosters Medium pressure
• CCP1: Commission of commercial plant
• CDGA1: Commission, Service Direct Fired Heaters
• C&G Level 3 Plumbing
• Trade qualified Combustion Engineer with appropriate post apprenticeship experience desirable
• Commercial & Domestic Boiler experience
• Must have a full drivers' licence
