Job summary

Artic Building Services is seeking a Mobile Chiller Engineer to join our field service team across client sites in the United Kingdom. You will service a wide range of chiller systems, ensuring optimal performance and reliability.

The role requires strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills, a solid understanding of refrigeration cycles and electrical controls, and a proactive, safety-conscious approach. A full UK driving licence is essential.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 2/3 in Refrigeration & Air Conditioning, or City & Guilds 2079 or equivalent.
• F-Gas Category 1 certification (essential).
• Minimum 5 years of demonstrable experience as a Chiller Engineer.
• Full, clean UK Driving Licence (essential).
• Strong understanding of refrigeration cycles, thermodynamics, electrical control systems, and HVAC principles.
• Ability to read electrical schematics, wiring diagrams and technical drawings to diagnose faults.
• Solid understanding of health and safety legislation (e.g., LOLER, PUWER, confined spaces, working at height).
• Desirable: 17th/18th Edition, IOSH/NEBOSH, CSCS/IPAFormal qualifications, BMS experience, absorption chillers.

Responsibilities

• Preventative Maintenance (PPM) on diverse chiller systems to ensure optimal performance and longevity.
• Fault Diagnosis & Repair on compressors, condensers, evaporators, controls, pumps and pipework.
• F-Gas leak detection, recovery and recharging per regulations.
• System optimisation and client upgrade recommendations.
• Liaise with clients, explain work and identify further required works.
• Complete service reports and timesheets using mobile technology.
• Adhere to health and safety regulations and perform risk assessments.
• Participate in an on-call rota (every 14 weeks).
• Provide guidance to junior technicians or apprentices.
