Job summary

SII UK seeks a Mobile Automation Software Development Engineer to design and build robust automation for iOS and Android, in a Python-based environment, across physical devices, emulators, and cloud testing infra.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related discipline or equivalent experience.
• Commercial experience in Python software development.
• Proven experience developing and maintaining mobile automation solutions.
• Hands-on experience with Appium automation frameworks.
• Experience automating native, hybrid, or mobile web apps across iOS and Android.
• Experience with emulators, simulators, and physical devices.
• Experience building scalable automation frameworks for enterprise testing environments.
• Experience integrating automated testing into CI/CD pipelines.
• Familiarity with cloud-hosted mobile testing platforms such as AWS Device Farm, BrowserStack, Sauce Labs.
• Experience in Agile software environments.
• Demonstrated delivery of production-quality software and automation.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain mobile automation frameworks using Python.
• Build and enhance automation solutions for iOS and Android.
• Develop test automation capable of running across physical devices, emulators, and simulators.
• Create and maintain Appium-based automation frameworks and reusable test libraries.
• Integrate mobile automation solutions with cloud-based device testing platforms and CI pipelines.
• Develop scalable automation architecture supporting parallel execution and broad device coverage.
• Design and build APIs, web services, microservices, and SDKs to support automation and testing requirements.
• Apply software engineering best practices, including code reusability, design patterns, testing, and documentation.
• Work closely with international development teams throughout the software development lifecycle.
• Identify and resolve automation reliability, stability, and performance issues.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives within quality engineering and test automation practices.
• Mentor colleagues and contribute to knowledge sharing across the engineering team.
• Communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
