SII UK is seeking a MOBILE AUTOMATION SOFTWARE DEVELOPMENT ENGINEER to join our growing engineering team, building advanced automation frameworks for connected products and digital services. The role focuses on designing robust mobile automation solutions for iOS and Android in a Python-based environment, spanning devices and cloud testing infrastructure.

You will collaborate with international teams, contribute to automated testing initiatives, and mentor colleagues in a fast-paced engineering

SII UK is seeking a MOBILE AUTOMATION SOFTWARE DEVELOPMENT ENGINEER to join our growing engineering team developing advanced automation frameworks for connected products and intelligent digital services.

This role focuses on designing and building robust mobile automation solutions that support large-scale validation of iOS and Android applications.

Working within a Python-based environment, you will develop automation platforms capable of operating across physical devices, emulators, and cloud-hosted testing infrastructure.

You will collaborate with global engineering teams to deliver high-quality software solutions while helping drive innovation in automated testing and quality engineering.

The position offers an excellent opportunity for an engineer who combines strong software development capabilities with hands-on experience in mobile automation technologies.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain mobile automation frameworks using Python.
• Build and enhance automation solutions for both iOS and Android applications.
• Develop test automation capable of running across physical devices, emulators, and simulators.
• Create and maintain Appium-based automation frameworks and reusable test libraries.
• Integrate mobile automation solutions with cloud-based device testing platforms and continuous integration pipelines.
• Develop scalable automation architecture supporting parallel execution and broad device coverage.
• Design and build APIs, web services, microservices, and SDKs to support automation and testing requirements.
• Apply software engineering best practices, including code reusability, design patterns, testing, and documentation.
• Work closely with international development teams throughout the software development lifecycle.
• Identify and resolve automation reliability, stability, and performance issues.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives within quality engineering and test automation practices.
• Mentor colleagues and contribute to knowledge sharing across the engineering team.
• Communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Skills Required

• Strong Python software development skills.
• Experience building and maintaining mobile automation frameworks.
• Strong knowledge of Appium and mobile test automation best practices.
• Experience automating iOS and Android applications.
• Understanding of mobile application architecture and development lifecycles.
• Experience working with emulators, simulators, and physical device testing environments.
• Experience integrating automation frameworks with CI/CD pipelines.
• Knowledge of RESTful APIs and web services.
• Understanding of software design patterns and object-oriented programming principles.
• Experience using source control tools such as Git.
• Knowledge of automation reporting, monitoring, and test execution management.
• Familiarity with cloud-hosted testing platforms and distributed test execution.

Experience Required

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent commercial experience.
• Commercial experience in software development using Python.
• Proven experience developing and maintaining mobile automation solutions.
• Hands-on experience with Appium automation frameworks.
• Experience automating native, hybrid, or mobile web applications across iOS and Android platforms.
• Experience working with mobile device emulators, simulators, and physical testing devices.
• Experience building scalable automation frameworks suitable for enterprise-level testing environments.
• Experience integrating automated testing into CI/CD pipelines.
• Familiarity with cloud-hosted mobile testing platforms such as AWS Device Farm, BrowserStack, Sauce Labs, or similar services.
• Experience working within Agile software development environments.
• Demonstrable experience delivering production-quality software and automation solutions.
