Job summary

M4 Partners is seeking a Mobile App Developer to own the mobile lifecycle from requirements and design to testing, release and ongoing improvement. You will build a client-facing app that securely connects to our backend, using React Native, Flutter, Swift or Kotlin.

You will integrate REST APIs, implement authentication and secure storage, and handle connectivity considerations. This fully remote role is outside IR35, collaborating with backend developers and client stakeholders.

We are recruiting a Mobile App Developer to build a client-facing mobile application that connects securely to our backend environment, where AI capabilities and business workflows are governed by our in-house platform. You will own mobile development from requirements and technical design through testing, release and ongoing improvement, working with backend developers and client stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain the mobile application for the agreed iOS and/or Android scope.
• Contribute to selecting an appropriate native or cross-platform approach.
• Translate user journeys, designs and business requirements into accessible mobile experiences.
• Integrate the application with backend APIs, including the exchange and validation of JSON data.
• Implement authentication, session management, secure local storage and user access behaviour.
• Present AI-generated information and workflow results clearly, including loading, progress, error and review states.
• Keep privileged credentials, AI orchestration and business rules within the approved backend architecture.
• Handle unreliable connectivity, interrupted requests, retries and data synchronisation where required.
• Implement device capabilities, notifications or file handling within the agreed requirements.
• Test supported devices and operating system versions, addressing performance, usability and security issues.
• Manage builds, signing, release preparation and app store submissions where applicable.
• Maintain documentation, support handover and resolve issues identified after release.

Essential experience and skills

• Demonstrable experience delivering mobile applications used by real users.
• Strong capability in a relevant approach, such as React Native, Flutter, Swift or Kotlin.
• Experience integrating REST APIs and handling structured JSON data.
• Understanding of mobile authentication, permissions, secure storage and application lifecycle behaviour.
• Experience building responsive interfaces for different screen sizes and device capabilities.
• Practical knowledge of testing, debugging, crash reporting and performance optimisation.
• Experience with version control and repeatable build and release processes.
• Ability to work independently and communicate effectively with clients and technical colleagues.

Desirable experience

• Published applications or experience managing app store releases.
• Applications connected to AI services or workflow platforms.
• Push notifications, offline functionality, streaming responses or real-time updates.
