Job summary

The University of Manchester is seeking a highly motivated researcher to develop analytical and computational models of nonlinear waves and floating-platform hydrodynamics. You will use BEM and related tools to calculate hydrodynamic coefficients, QTFs, wave forces and platform motions, and develop efficient reduced-order models.

You will publish results, present at conferences, and collaborate with academic partners and industrial collaborators in offshore renewables.

Qualifications

  • Sound knowledge of fluid mechanics and wave interaction with floating or moored bodies.
  • Strong analytical and scientific programming skills.
  • Experience with computational model development and data-driven methods beneficial.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and run analytical and computational models of nonlinear waves and floating-body hydrodynamics.
  • Use BEM and related tools to calculate hydrodynamic coefficients, QTFs, wave forces and motions.
  • Develop reduced-order models and integrate methods into existing coupled codes.
  • Publish research and participate in conferences; supervise postgraduate researchers.
