Job summary

ASOS is hiring for an engineering leader to design and scale AI-powered search and discovery platforms. You will build scalable ML infrastructure, deploy reliable services, and drive CI/CD for data products across cloud environments.

Qualifications

• Strong software engineering fundamentals for production systems at scale.
• Experience with distributed systems, microservices or high-throughput backends.
• Programming in Python, Java, Kotlin, Go, or Scala.
• Experience operating services in AWS/Azure/GCP clouds.
• Hands-on Kubernetes and cloud-native tech experience.
• CI/CD pipelines and automated deployment expertise.
• Infrastructure as code with Terraform, Pulumi or CloudFormation.
• Observability tooling, monitoring and incident management.
• Experience with data-heavy or real-time distributed processing.
• Exposure to ML systems, model serving or MLOps is a plus.
• Strong leadership, mentoring, and cross-functional collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Design and build scalable ML platforms and infrastructure for training, deployment and serving.
• Develop highly available backend services powering recommender, search and personalization features.
• Create and maintain CI/CD pipelines for ML/data products.
• Architect batch and real-time inference using modern cloud-native tech.
• Improve reliability, observability and performance of ML workloads.
• Build tooling to enable scientists and engineers to deploy models safely.
• Own production services and incident management with RCA.
• Optimise distributed compute and resource utilisation across clouds.
• Promote IaC adoption and platform standardisation across ML systems.
• Contribute to architectural decisions across recommendation, search and AI platforms.
• Mentor engineers and champion software engineering best practices.
