Job summary

Thomson Reuters Labs in London is seeking an Applied Science Intern passionate about machine learning and NLP for a six-month program. You will join a diverse, interdisciplinary team to work through the full model development lifecycle—from ideation to testing and deployment—while contributing to real-world challenges across legal, tax, government, and media.

Ideal candidates hold an MSc in ML/NLP/CS or are pursuing a PhD, with hands-on Python experience and familiarity with NLP/LLMs.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in or holding MSc in ML, NLP, CS, or pursuing a PhD in a related field.
• Hands-on NLP/ML experience, including exposure to large language models.
• Proficiency in Python and DL/ML/NLP frameworks and tools.
• Ability to design, run, and evaluate ML experiments with a data-driven mindset.
• Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across time zones.

Responsibilities

• Participate in the full ML/NLP model development lifecycle from ideation to deployment.
• Collaborate with a cross-functional global team of ML engineers, data scientists, and product teams.
• Experiment with new approaches and contribute ideas for information retrieval and NLU.
• Contribute to applied research addressing real-world business challenges.
