Job summary

Royal Mail is seeking a Machine Learning Engineer to join our Data & AI team in London, driving production ML systems from concept to deployment. You will work with Data Scientists, Engineers and Platform teams to build, deploy and scale ML solutions that deliver business value at scale.

Engage in modern MLOps practices, cloud platforms and enterprise-scale data products while shaping the future of AI at Royal Mail.

Qualifications

• Proven ML engineer experience delivering production ML solutions.
• Experience with Python and ML frameworks TensorFlow, PyTorch, Kubeflow.
• Experience designing and maintaining scalable ML pipelines.
• Cloud environments (Azure, AWS or GCP).
• Containerisation and orchestration with Kubernetes.
• Strong software engineering, DevOps and MLOps principles.
• Experience building and supporting production APIs and ML services.
• Collaborative with excellent communication and stakeholder engagement.
• Minimum 3 years in ML/AI engineering.

We're looking for a Machine Learning Engineer to join our Data & AI team and play a key role in taking machine learning solutions from concept to production. Working alongside Data Scientists, Engineers and Platform teams, you'll help build, deploy and scale robust machine learning systems that deliver real business value across one of the UK's largest and most recognisable organisations.

What You'll Be Doing

• Designing and implementing scalable machine learning pipelines for training, testing, deployment and monitoring.
• Optimising model performance, reliability and scalability for production environments.
• Building robust CI/CD processes and automated workflows to support machine learning delivery.
• Working closely with Data Scientists to operationalise machine learning models and AI solutions.
• Supporting the adoption of MLOps best practices across the wider data community.
• Deploying and managing machine learning workloads using approved tooling and cloud technologies.
• Ensuring production APIs and machine learning services remain resilient, secure and scalable.
• Contributing to engineering standards, continuous improvement and technical innovation.

What We're Looking For

You'll be passionate about turning machine learning models into production-ready solutions and enjoy working in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.

We're particularly interested in candidates who have:

• Proven experience as a Machine Learning Engineer or similar role delivering machine learning solutions into production.
• Strong Python development skills and experience with machine learning frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch or Kubeflow.
• Experience designing, deploying and maintaining scalable ML platforms and pipelines.
• Knowledge of cloud environments including Azure, AWS or GCP.
• Experience with containerisation and orchestration technologies such as Kubernetes.
• Strong understanding of software engineering, DevOps and MLOps principles.
• Experience building and supporting production APIs and machine learning services.
• A collaborative approach with excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
• A minimum of three years' experience within Machine Learning, AI Engineering or a related field.
