Job summary

Gloucestershire Health and Care NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Band 5 registered nurse or paramedic to join the Dursley MIU. The post is permanent and part-time (24 hours per week), with duties focused on safe triage and patient care in a busy MIiU.

You'll work alongside Emergency Practitioners, triaging using Manchester Triage and supporting service improvement, with training and development opportunities.

Qualifications

• CPD ongoing and professional development.
• Experience in MIiU/ED or acute settings is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Triage all attending patients using Manchester Triage.
• Carry out intentional rounding to keep patients safe while waiting to be seen.
• Assess, plan, implement and evaluate care for MIiU patients alongside Emergency Practitioners.
• Assist Emergency Practitioners with assessment, treatment and discharge planning.
• Support the practitioner in charge with day-to-day planning and service improvement.
• Give advice, including telephone advice, to the local community, staff and other disciplines.
• Apply, remove and adjust plaster casts and splints.
• Administer medication and treatment within POPAM guidelines.
• Communicate with patients, including those with learning disabilities, communication problems or emotional distress, treating all service users and carers with dignity and respect.
• Keep accurate and contemporaneous records.
• Maintain enhanced clinical skills and attend mandatory and regular training.
• Develop specific expertise in an area such as wound care or suturing.
