Job summary

Amey Defence Equipment seeks a MITER Maintainer for a 12-month contract based onsite in Ripon. You will service diesel and MHE/Plant equipment, liaising with customers to agree timescales and costs and ensuring safe handover.

The role requires Level 3 apprenticeship in a related engineering field and substantial hands-on experience. Amey offers a competitive salary (£37,791.72) and a supportive, inclusive team with opportunities for a permanent contract via Reservist status.

Qualifications

• Level 3 Apprenticeship in a related engineering function (Vehicle Systems Maintenance/Vehicle Electrics/Electronics/Vehicle Diagnostics/Automotive Engineering/Hydraulics/Power Train).
• Significant hands-on engineering experience as a Car Mechanic, HGV Fitter, Plant Fitter, or similar apprenticeship qualification.

Responsibilities

• Service and maintain diesel, MOTS-adapted MHE and Plant vehicles and related ancillaries.
• Liaise with controller and customer to agree scope, timescales and costs.
• Identify root causes of breakdowns and source parts cost-effectively with technical support as needed.
• Carry out inspections to ensure safe, satisfactory operation before handover.
• Identify any further work and communicate costs; maximise potential revenue where applicable.
• Complete job/service documentation with required signatures.
