Job description

Contract: Permanent, full time (40 hours), 5 days per week on-site

About the School

Our client is a leading independent co-educational day school in Surrey, educating students aged 11–18. With a proud academic heritage spanning several centuries, the school combines high academic standards with a genuinely individual approach to every student, alongside an outstanding co-curricular programme spanning sport, music, drama and the arts.

The Role

This is an exciting opportunity for an MIS professional to take ownership of the school's Management Information System at a pivotal moment: the school is currently utilising SIMS and is transitioning to iSAMS during the next academic year. The successful candidate will play a central role in that migration, as well as in the day-to-day management of school data.

You will work closely with senior leadership, teaching staff and administrative teams to ensure data is accurate, secure, and used effectively to support strategic decision-making across the school.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and maintain the school's MIS, ensuring data integrity, accuracy and security at all times
  • Play a leading role in the migration from SIMS to iSAMS, including data cleansing, mapping, testing and staff training
  • Assessment, Reporting & Analytics.
  • Produce timely, accurate reports and analysis for senior leadership, governors and external stakeholders (including census returns and statutory reporting)
  • Provide training and ongoing support to staff on MIS usage and data management best practice
  • Ensure full compliance with data protection regulations (GDPR) and school policies
  • Analyse and interpret data to support school improvement initiatives and strategic planning
  • Act as the key liaison with IT staff and external suppliers to troubleshoot and resolve MIS-related issues
  • Manage user access, permissions and system configuration within the MIS

About You

  • Proven experience managing an MIS within a school or educational setting
  • Excellent analytical skills, with the ability to interpret and present complex data clearly
  • Ability to liaise with suppliers and external vendors, manage contracts and support cost effective purchasing decisions.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, comfortable working with staff at all levels including senior leadership
  • Good working knowledge of data protection legislation (GDPR) and ISI data requirements
  • Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities and meet deadlines
  • Prior experience of iSAMS, or experience of managing a SIMS-to-iSAMS (or comparable) MIS migration
  • Knowledge of SQL, database structure or other data querying and reporting tools such as Power BI
  • Experience producing census returns and other statutory school reporting
  • Degree level qualification or professional IT/data related certifications
