Job summary

Tempest Resourcing Limited is seeking a reliable Minibus Driver for a Boys' School in Ashford. You will transport pupils to and from the school each day as part of the transport plan, reporting to the Estates Manager.

This safeguarding-critical role requires professionalism and vigilance with young people. The role is term-time only with early morning and late afternoon shifts, typically 6:15am–8:15am and 4:00pm–6:00pm, Monday to Friday.

Qualifications

• Full, clean UK driving licence.
• D1 entitlement allowing minibus passenger transport.
• Previous minibus or passenger transport experience preferred.
• Enhanced DBS check suitable for working with children.
• Two professional references.
• Reliable, responsible and punctual approach.
• Excellent timekeeping and communication skills.
• Clear safeguarding awareness when working with children.

Responsibilities

• Safely transport pupils to and from school according to routes and timetable.
• Carry out morning and afternoon transport runs, ensuring punctual arrivals.
• Maintain a calm, professional manner with pupils, parents, staff and the public.
• Drive minibus safely, complying with UK road legislation and school policies.
• Complete vehicle safety checks before journeys and report defects promptly.

About the Role

A Boys' School in Ashford is looking for a reliable, responsible and professional Minibus Driver to join its Estates team.

Reporting directly to the Estates Manager, you will be responsible for safely transporting pupils to and from the school as part of the school's daily transport arrangements. This is a safeguarding-critical position, involving unsupervised access to pupils, and the successful candidate will therefore be expected to demonstrate the highest standards of professionalism, reliability and safeguarding awareness.

The role is ideally suited to an experienced driver who enjoys working with young people and understands the importance of creating a safe, respectful and secure environment for pupils.

Key Responsibilities

• Safely transport pupils to and from according to the school's scheduled routes and timetable.
• Carry out morning and afternoon school transport runs, ensuring pupils arrive safely and on time.
• Maintain a calm, professional and courteous manner when interacting with pupils, parents, staff and members of the public.
• Ensure the minibus is driven safely and responsibly at all times, complying with UK road traffic legislation and school policies.
• Complete appropriate vehicle safety checks before journeys and report any defects, maintenance concerns or issues promptly to the Estates Manager.
• Maintain a clean, safe and presentable vehicle environment.
• Follow all school safeguarding, health and safety and transport procedures.
• Maintain appropriate professional boundaries when working with pupils.
• Remain vigilant to safeguarding concerns and report any concerns through the school's established procedures.
• Ensure pupils are safely supervised during transportation and that appropriate procedures are followed when collecting and dropping off pupils.

Essential Requirements

• A full, clean UK driving licence.
• D1 entitlement allowing you to legally drive a minibus carrying passengers.
• Previous experience driving a minibus or transporting passengers is highly desirable.
• An Enhanced DBS check suitable for working with children.
• Two professional references that can be contacted as part of the recruitment process.
• A reliable and responsible approach to work.
• Excellent punctuality and timekeeping.
• A professional attitude and strong communication skills.
• A clear understanding of the importance of safeguarding when working with children and young people.

Working Hours

The position operates Monday to Friday during school term time:

Morning: 6:15am - 8:15am

Afternoon: 4:00pm - 6:00pm

This is a term-time-only position, meaning there is no requirement to work during school holidays and no holiday pay/work during the holiday periods.
