Qualifications

  • Completion of a recognized UK engineering apprenticeship (e.g., Level 3 Apprenticeship in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering).
  • NVQ Level 2/3 or City & Guilds qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing, or Machining.
  • GCSEs (or equivalent) in Mathematics and English at Grade 4/C or above.

Responsibilities

  • Machine Setup: Interpret engineering drawings and CAD models to plan operational sequences and tool selection.
  • Precision Operation: Set up, calibrate, and operate conventional and multi-axis CNC milling machines safely and efficiently.
  • AS9100D Compliance: Adhere strictly to the company’s quality management systems, documentation requirements, and full material traceability procedures in line with AS9100D standards.
  • Deburring & Finishing: Demonstrate a high level of deburring skills to remove burrs, sharp edges, and defects from finished components, ensuring a high-quality surface finish.
  • Quality Inspection: Use precision measuring instruments (micrometres, vernier callipers, and gauges) to inspect finished parts against engineering specs.
  • Process Optimisation: Monitor machine performance, adjust cutting speeds, feed rates, and tool offsets to optimize production and reduce waste.
  • Routine Maintenance: Perform daily preventative maintenance, clear swarf, manage coolant levels, and report mechanical faults promptly.
  • Safety Compliance: Maintain a clean work environment and strictly adhere to all company health, safety, and environmental protocols.

Role Description

We are seeking a full time, skilled and detail-oriented Mill Machine Operator to join our aerospace and precision engineering production team. As an AS9100D certified company, we maintain the highest standards of quality, traceability, and safety. In this role, you will set up and operate manual and CNC milling machines to manufacture high-precision components. You will work closely with engineering drawings to ensure all parts meet strict aerospace-level quality standards and tight tolerances. Education & Training:

  • Experience: Proven experience operating manual or CNC milling machines within a high-precision engineering environment (experience in an aerospace or defence environment is highly desirable).
  • Technical Skill: Strong ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Mathematics: Proficiency in basic shop mathematics for checking dimensions and calculating machining parameters.
  • Attributes: High attention to detail, strong problem-solving abilities, and a collaborative team mindset.
What We Offer
  • Salary: £26,936.00 to £30,784.00 per annum equivalent (Hourly Paid position).

Working Hours
