Job summary

Midwifery Support Worker

Chesterfield Royal Hospital is looking to fill a 12‑month fixed‑term contract to cover maternity leave.

Employment Details

The post holder will support and assist midwives in delivering holistic, high‑quality, evidence‑based antenatal and postnatal care to women and their families. The role includes undertaking unsupervised aspects of care and therapeutic intervention as delegated by the midwife, within agreed guidelines and sphere of responsibility.

Responsibilities
  • Support midwives to ensure women receive high standards of maternity care throughout the service.
  • Carry out unsupervised care and therapeutic interventions as delegated by the midwife.
  • Work a shift pattern covering weekends and bank holidays.
  • Provide flexibility or predictable working arrangements where possible.
Qualifications & Skills
  • Excellent communication and team‑working qualities.
  • Willingness to learn new skills with full training and support provided.
  • Ability to work on your own initiative and as part of a multi‑professional team.
Other Requirements
  • COVID‑19 vaccination is encouraged and will be supported by the Trust.
  • UK Points‑based immigration system: non‑UK or Republic of Ireland nationals must have sponsorship unless they are eligible for the Health and Care Worker visa.
  • UK applicants must provide accurate immigration status details and may need a criminal record certificate from each country resided in for 12 months or more within the past 10 years.
  • References should be provided via email where possible.
