Buckinghamshire Healthcare Trust is proud to offer an exciting opportunity to work in one of the most beautiful parts of the country in a rapidly expanding department. We currently employ 7 consultants, with advanced plans to expand to 9 consultants. The advertised job is a replacement post with a primary interest in robotic-assisted pelvic oncology surgery. The urology department is allocated 2.5 robotic sessions per week, and it is anticipated that the applicant would average between 1-2 sessions per week. Triple session theatre lists are also being considered.

The Urology unit at Buckinghamshire provides general and specialist urology care for over half a million population. The area is rapidly expanding due to an active housebuilding programme in the Aylesbury area. The post involves general urology with a subspecialist interest in Pelvic Oncology, depending on experience. There are opportunities to develop links with Oxford University Hospitals for adolescent urology services and regional robotic surgery. Experience in DGH-level paediatric urology is welcome, depending on the candidate’s background.
The Trust offers treatments for BPH, including bipolar TURP, Urolift, HoLEP, PAE, and green light laser prostatectomy. We have a Da Vinci Xi surgical robot and provide robotic cancer services, upper tract surgery, prostatectomy, and specialist stone surgery including mini-PCNL. We also perform local anaesthetic transperineal prostate biopsies, conducted by doctors and advanced nurse practitioners.
The National Spinal Injuries Centre at Stoke Mandeville Hospital supports urological care for spinal injury patients.
PPE requirements: All staff must wear appropriate PPE per infection control policies.
