Reporting to our Senior UX/UI Designer, You will combine strong UX thinking with polished UI design, translating user needs, business objectives, research and technical requirements into clear journeys, intuitive structures and engaging digital interfaces.

The role will primarily support Web projects and retainers, with additional involvement in interactive and campaign-led Activation work. You will take ownership of agreed UX/UI work from early discovery and definition through to wireframing, prototyping, high-fidelity design, developer handover and quality assurance.

We're looking for someone who can strengthen the team's research-led UX capability, particularly across customer journeys, information architecture, navigation and content structure. You should also be confident producing high-quality responsive UI and developing scalable design systems, components and reusable patterns.

You will work closely with designers, developers, project managers, account teams and clients. You will be expected to manage your own delivery, explain the rationale behind your decisions and identify risks or opportunities early.

This role will help provide greater specialist ownership across Web and Activation, improve the consistency and resilience of our UX/UI delivery, and reduce reliance on senior team members for day-to-day production, intervention and quality assurance.

  • Deliver high-quality UX and UI design across Web and Activation projects, from early thinking through to final design and handover.
  • Translate briefs, research, user needs and commercial requirements into clear and practical digital experiences.
  • Plan and create customer journeys, user flows, sitemaps, information architecture and content structures.
  • Produce wireframes and interactive prototypes that clearly communicate structure, functionality and intended behaviour.
  • Design polished, responsive and accessible interfaces that align with client brands and project objectives.
  • Conduct or contribute to customer research, stakeholder interviews, competitor reviews, journey audits and usability testing.
  • Turn research, analytics and user insight into clear design recommendations and prioritised opportunities.
  • Build and maintain scalable design systems, reusable components and consistent interface patterns in Figma.
  • Apply accessibility and inclusive-design principles throughout the design process
  • Work closely with developers to ensure proposed designs are practical, responsive and technically achievable.
  • Prepare clear and complete design handovers, including responsive behaviours, component states and interaction requirements.
  • Review implemented work and support design quality assurance throughout development.
  • Present work confidently to internal teams and clients, explaining the thinking and evidence behind design decisions.
  • Proactively seek feedback at appropriate stages and use it to improve the quality and effectiveness of the work.
  • Review your own work against the brief, user needs, commercial objectives and Engage's quality standards before seeking sign-off.
  • Support lower-risk UX/UI reviews and provide constructive feedback to other designers.
  • Stay informed about relevant UX methods, UI patterns, accessibility requirements, platform developments and emerging technologies.
Retainer and delivery
  • Provide consistent UX/UI ownership across agreed Web and Activation retainers
  • Identify proactive opportunities to improve customer journeys, usability, accessibility, conversion and overall digital performance.
  • Work with account and proposition teams to turn opportunities into clear, commercially appropriate recommendations.
  • Contribute to journey audits, usability reviews, competitor analysis and optimisation roadmaps.
  • Support conversion rate optimisation activity, experimentation and A/B testing where appropriate.
  • Use available analytics, performance data and user behaviour insights to inform design decisions.
  • Help establish repeatable UX/UI approaches, frameworks, templates and services across the Web and Activation propositions.
  • Contribute to the continued improvement of Engage's UX/UI capability and the consistency of its digital output.
  • Support scoping and estimating by helping teams understand the UX/UI activity required to deliver work effectively.
  • Flag potential upsell, optimisation or follow-on opportunities to the relevant senior, account or proposition lead
Operational
  • Take ownership of agreed projects and workstreams, managing them from initial brief through to delivery.
  • Manage your workload independently across multiple projects and retainers, meeting agreed deadlines and budgets.
  • Raise delivery risks, quality concerns, missing information or resourcing challenges early.
  • Log time accurately in Productive and work towards the agency's billability expectations.
  • Work efficiently within the agreed scope while communicating where additional time or activity may be required.
  • Contribute to estimates, scopes, delivery plans and project documentation
  • Communicate clearly with designers, developers, project managers, account teams and clients.
  • Participate actively in internal reviews and critiques, providing constructive and actionable feedback.
  • Share knowledge, useful methods and UX/UI best practice with the wider Design team.
  • Support less-experienced designers with lower-risk UI tasks, tools and digital design principles where appropriate.
  • Ensure work meets Engage's Attention to Digital standards before it is shared, with minimal intervention required at senior sign-off.
  • Approximately 2 to 5 years of professional UX/UI design experience, ideally within an agency or similarly fast-paced environment
  • A strong portfolio demonstrating both UX thinking and high-quality UI design across responsive digital experiences
  • Highly proficient in Figma, including components, variants, variables, auto layout, prototyping and design systems

  • Able to explain decisions clearly without relying solely on personal design preference
  • Commercially aware and respectful of agreed estimates, budgets and scope
  • Receptive to feedback and willing to challenge thinking constructively

  • Supportive of other designers and willing to share knowledge and practical guidance
  • Positive, adaptable and calm when priorities change
  • Organised, dependable and able to maintain quality across multiple workstreams
