Job summary

Berenberg in London seeks an experienced Middle Office Operations Officer to support 40 equity traders with fast-paced trade confirmations and efficient settlement processing.

You will work closely with Hamburg and London offices, providing strong prioritisation, calm focus under pressure, and service-oriented support to traders and clients. This role involves late shifts to cover US clients and on-site collaboration.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience in a high-volume equities/trade execution environment.
• Deep understanding of the full settlement process for equities/securities.
• Proficiency with CTM, Bloomberg, Traiana or similar systems.
• Ability to adapt to Sales/Trading needs and provide high-quality support.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to manage changing priorities.
• Capable of meeting strict deadlines in a dynamic team setting.
• Willingness to cover late shifts for US clients on a rota.

Responsibilities

• Ensure timely confirmation of all equity trades.
• Perform electronic pre-matching in CTM and Traiana.
• Coordinate with Settlements Team, Traders, and Investment Managers to ensure accurate matching and settlement.
• Closely monitor trades and raise issues as needed with sales/traders.
• Address ad-hoc trading/execution confirmation issues.
• Crest checking for the RSP desk.
• Support the low touch desk and client accounts reconciliation (RPA/CSA).
• Manage and reconcile client RPA/CSA accounts including payments.

For our Middle Office division in London we are looking to hire a:

Middle Office Operations Officer

Your role in the team

As part of a team of six spread across our offices in Hamburg and London, we support a total of 40 equity traders and equity sales traders in the smooth processing of securities transactions. The role is varied and fast-paced, requiring strong organisation, sound judgement and effective prioritisation.

You’ll be a great fit if you’re service-oriented, collaborative and able to stay calm and focused when managing competing priorities and challenging situations.

What will you do?

• Assuring that all equity trades are confirmed within a timely manner
• Electronic pre matching in CTM and Traiana
• Escalating and Liaising with the internal Settlements Team (Hamburg and London)/Traders/Investment Managers or client’s custodian to ensure accurate matching and settlement of all trades
• Close monitoring of trades and if deemed necessary, raise difference with sales/traders
• Dealing with any ad-hoc trading/execution confirmation issues
• Crest checking for our RSP desk
• Support for our low touch desk
• Managing and reconciliation of client’s RPA/CSA accounts including payments.

Who are we looking for?

• Strong experience and understanding of working within a high volume equities/trade execution environment
• Profound knowledge of the full settlement process for equities/securities
• High systems aptitude and experience in local systems e.g. CTM/Bloomberg/Traiana/Fidessa
• Ability to adapt to the Sales/Trading teams needs to offer high quality support
• Strong organisational skills and flexibility, with the ability to cope with rapidly changing priorities throughout the day
• Ability to work well in a dynamic environment and meet strict deadlines
• Readiness to cover our late shift for our US clients (rota system)
