Job summary

Painters Ash Primary School is seeking a part-time meals supervisor to help set up dining areas and assist pupils during lunch. You will oversee safe queuing, support wellbeing during mealtime, and ensure a clean, orderly dining environment.

The role is term-time only (38 weeks/year, 4.5 hours/week) and requires a DBS check and references. Start date as soon as possible.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Setting up tables, cutlery and cups for lunch and ensuring there are enough settings for the children.
• Ensuring pupils enter the dining room safely and queue appropriately for their meal.
• Prepare hot or cold meals where applicable and clean/tidy equipment after each session.
• Assist pupils during meal breaks, providing drinks, helping with spillages, cutting up food, and meeting personal needs.
• Clear plates and maintain a clean dining area to free up space for further sittings.
• Operate a first aid service during mealtimes where required and supervise pupils on the playground and School Field.

Job description

Key responsibilities will include:

• Setting up tables, cutlery and cups in time for lunch and ensuring there are sufficient settings for the numbers of children eating that day.

• Ensuring pupils enter the dining room in a safe and orderly fashion and behave in an appropriate manner when queuing for their meal.

• Where applicable prepare hot or cold meals based on agreed menus, clean and tidy equipment at the end of each session.

• Assist the pupils, as necessary, during the meal break to ensure their wellbeing. (This may include providing them with a drink, helping with spillages, cutting up food and caring for pupils’ personal needs).

• Ensure plates etc. are cleared from tables in an appropriate manner to maintain a clean and tidy environment, and to free up space for any further sittings where applicable.

• Operate, where applicable, a first aid service during the mealtime to deal with any accidents that occur safely and quickly.

  Supervising children on the playground and School Field, as appropriate.
