Job summary

Heronsgate Primary School is seeking friendly individuals to join the midday meals supervising team. You will help ensure the safety, welfare and good conduct of pupils during the lunch break, at Thamesmead or Woolwich sites.

The role requires experience supervising children, supporting pupils with additional needs, and a good understanding of safeguarding and teamwork. Closing date: 19 October 2026 at 9:00 AM.

Qualifications

• Proven experience supervising children in paid or unpaid work.
• Experience supporting pupils with additional needs.
• Understanding of school meals and midday break as social/educational occasions.
• Understanding safeguarding and children's wellbeing.
• Ability to work as a member of a team.
• Ability to relate to pupils with patience and positive strategies.

Midday Meals Supervisors

Scale 1 Spine Point 3 £3,565* actual gross salary*5 hours per week, 39 weeks per year

Our School is looking for friendly and enthusiastic individuals to join our supervisory team at Heronsgate Primary School.

You will be responsible to the Headteacher for securing the safety, welfare and good conduct of pupils in the premises of the school during the midday break. You may be placed at either of our two sites in Thamesmead and Woolwich.

To be successful you should have:

• Proven experience of supervising children in a paid or unpaid capacity
• Experience of supporting pupils with additional needs
• Understanding of the importance of the school meal / packed lunch and the midday break as a social and educational occasion
• Understanding of the importance of safeguarding and children’s wellbeing
• An ability to work as a member of a team
• The ability to relate to pupils and to deal with them patiently and firmly using positive strategies
